A Deep Dive into Chilean Wines 2021
Explore wines of Chile from the home base of Santiago, Chile, to taste everything from Carménère to Pinot Noir to Cabernet Sauvignon (if you like reds) to Sauvignon Blanc to Chardonnay (if you prefer white wines). Chile has a unique set of sub-regions that includes Costa (Coastal), Entre Cordilleras (designating wines between the coastal and Andean mountain ranges), and Andes, which designates wines from vineyards planted in the Andean foothills. With daytrips to all three sub-regions traveling north, south, and west of the city of Santiago, we will taste wines from regions that have been growing grapes for hundreds of years in post-Conquest Chile, as well as visiting new and upcoming bodegas. Add to this, day trips to the coastal town of Valparaiso, visiting two of the spectacular and unique homes of the man widely considered to be Latin America’s greatest poet, Pablo Neruda, and time to explore Santiago, Chile itself for wine tasting, museums, markets, and incredible pisco sours. The trip ends with an excursion to the hot springs in El Cajón Canyon, to prepare you for your trip home!
Trip Cost: $3500 (includes all in-country transportation, lodging, breakfast and a daily $50 dinner allowance. Airfare to and from Chile, and lunch costs not included.
